APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR THE 2024 KLEIN

Compete June 1 – 2, 2024 in San Francisco for performance contracts and cash awards at the Klein. 8-9 semifinalists premiere commissioned works by award-winning composer John Wineglass, perform Bach, concerti and sonata movements.
Prizewinners go on to appear in Bay Area recitals and orchestra performances.
Open to string players between the ages of 15 – 23 at the time of the Competition not under professional management. Online applications are open through Feb 3, 2024. A limited number of need-based fee and travel scholarships will be available for qualified applicants in 2024.

2023 Klein 

FIRST PRIZE: Emad Zolfaghari, viola

SECOND PRIZE: Audrey Goodner, violin

THIRD PRIZE: Ray Ushikubo, violin

Fourth Prizes: Blaire Kim, violin; Vincent Garcia-Hettinger, cello

Weiss Prize for best performance of the commissioned work: Ray Ushikubo; Pablo Casals Prize for best performance of Bach: Audrey Goodner.
