The 24th annual Irving M. Klein International String Competition
The California Music Center and San Francisco State University, College of Creative Arts announce, with pleasure, the winners of The 24th annual Irving M. Klein International String Competition. First Prize: NIKKI CHOOI, 19-year old violinist from Victoria, Canada Student of Joseph Silverstein and Ida Kavafian, Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, PA. Second Prize: SO JIN KIM, 23-year old violinist from South Korea Student of Cho Liang Lin at Rice University, Houston, TX. Third Prize: META WEISS, 21-year old cellist from San Francisco, CA. Student of Norman Fischer at Rice University, Houston, TX.Plus Fourth Prizes to SUJIN LEE (cello) and JACQUELINE CHOI (cello).

The annual Irving M. Klein International String Competition is recognized as the worldÕs leading competition for young string artists. Since its inception 24 years ago, the Klein Competition has given classical music virtuosos between the ages of 15 and 23 a place to showcase their exceptional skills and from which to embark upon a professional career.
